TEMPLATE #116

Weekly Challenge #116
with Erin

Hello there one and all! I have so many reasons why I had not posted this and why I have been absent from my computer time. As I will share that all with you in future posts, I really wanted to get this Zendala Dare posted since it's the most delinquent on my list.
I soooooo loved this template! I have to say, I always do the pencil transfer of the template as Erin shows on her blog, but I played around, a tad, directly on the smaller printed version to create this celtic like Zendala, first. And a confession, I did have to use an eraser a few times, as my eyes were playing tricks on me.   :0/

As yo scroll down you will see how this changed from the original template. (click to enlarge)

Here is the original template form Erin at The Bright Owl
I encourage any and all of you to give the Zendala Dare a try! Erin posts a new template every Tuesday of each week. It really has helped me get over my fear of Zendalas. I usually do mine using the largest template, but I have been known to use the smaller one in times when I am pressured for time. Come on,...........give it a try!! :0)

T_H_A_N_K_S.......... ZENDALA

Weekly Challenge #115
with Erin

I just fell in love with this week's template! Right away I was going to use Mooka and brake up those bumps on the outer perimeter,.....but wait,.............Erin threw us for a loop and made the challenge an even bigger challenge!!!!!!!! WHAT????? Hahaha, just kidding'. But I do have to say, I was a little stumped this week. Thank goodness for Linda Farmer's, Tanglepatterns.com! Erin asked us to not only use her template, but to use tangles that began using the letters in T_H_A_N_K_S.
So I used TanglePatterns to look up these lettered tangles. Linda's website is like using the dictionary but it's for tangles. If you haven't visited her site, I strongly recommend it because it is such a fabulous resource in the tangle community.
The tangles I chose were Twile (also known as Stoic), Hypnotic, Agua, Narwal, Kelp, and Showgirl.
Here it is without color. Click on image to enlarge.

I used Recollections Signature Especial markers for the color. They have a really fine tip on one end and a brush tip (which I absolutely love) on the other. (They might be just a Michael's brand????)
If you are a Zentangle junkie and would love to challenge yourself, with yet another challenge, then you should try out the Zendala Dares. I once was afraid of zendalas but now I look forward to see what Erin puts in front of us every week. So much enjoyment!!
Have an awesome weekend and I will see you 'round the corner!

ZENDALA OF FALL

Zendala Dare #113
with Erin
Go to The Bright Owl and download your Zendala Dare!

It's been quite the busy week,.......and yet,........I didn't get any housework done! :0/ Actually, I take that back, I got ALL of my laundry done. (And yet, if you looked in the laundry baskets in each bedroom it would be depressing, because there are already dirty clothes in each one!!! Yeeeeeks!!!!)
Anyways,...when I saw this week's template, I wasn't too sure about it. I kept going back to it and looking at it, thinking, "what am I going to do with it?" Well, once I traced it and the pencil markings were on my paper, it came to life! I tend, NOT, to use all the lines that are on the template and/or if I do, I just restructure them.
Thank you Erin for always giving us such interesting templates to play with. I really feel I'm breaking through a lot of my own personal challenges because of them!

Here is my zendala without shading and without color.

I used  my Faber Castell Gelatos to watercolor this.

When I trace Erin's template and transfer it onto my page, I always pick the largest template. The artist pad that I use is the Canson Mix Media XL. It is 7x10 inches and is 98 lb weighted paper. I really love it and the large template always fits so nice on it. But I usually have a strip of solid white to the right of my zendala. So I have been filling them up with a couple Bijou size squares. And putting a bit of inspirational words along with them. So here's what this week's space filler looked like. (I stayed with the fall theme.)

I am still learning how to use my Faber Castell Gelatos. I have never taken art classes so a lot of this mixed medium stuff,..........I'm still learning. But it's fun and I enjoy looking at my past blog posts and seeing that I am making progress. (baby steps)
Anyways, enjoy your fall weather! If your on the opposite side of this planet and you're having spring right now,..... Enjoy !!!!!
Thank you, one and all, for your uplifting comments! I will see you all next week! WE have our first Halloween party this Sunday. Stay tuned to see pics of what our theme is this year! :0)

ZENDALA TIME

Zendala Dare #112
with Erin

Okay, I have to admit! As much as I look forward to Monday and seeing what the Diva's Weekly Challenge is, I am now hooked to the Zendala Dares with Erin! Erin posts her new weekly challenge every Tuesday! So come on along and join in on the fun with both weekly challenges! It's amazing what the Tangling community has to share! Get inspired and 'Inspire'!!!

I tangled right on my printed copy, for this one! (It was a quick one for 'Inktober')

I like how this one turned out! I used the negative space to tangle! It took quite a bit of time because of the tangles I chose. Tangles used: 'Nzeppel' and 'Striping'

I just had to add this photo. Looks like we might actually get some fall colors, here in Southern CA!
Thank you, everyone for leaving a bit of sunshine on my blog last week! Can't wait to see what everyone has created with this awesome zendala template! Thank you Erin!! Your templates always blow me away!!:0)

HALLOWEEN IS COMING-------YEEEEKS!

Zendala Dare #111
with Erin

Thank you Erin for such a fun challenge! I loved the template you gave us for this week! I may have to do another one with it! Halloween is always fun and I enjoy the crazy creatures that go along with it.
I just had to go with 'The Count' with this zendala.
In progression

True black n white and shades of gray!

Now that I know how to scan, this is a scanned pic and I added color!
Why don't you download Erin's template for Zendala Dare #111,
and join in on the fun!
If you are a weekly participant for this challenge, you might want to try out The Diva's, weekly challenge too.
   Hope to see you there!
I can't believe that Halloween is just around the corner. I need to ask a favor from ya' all! There are five people in my family, and I like to pick a theme for us to dress up as for Halloween. Any suggestions? I am totally stumped this year!
Welp, have a great weekend, and we'll see you around, next week!

ZENDALA DARE #110

Zendala Dare #110
with Erin

At first when I saw this week's template, I thought, "Am I going to have enough time to do this one?" But, as I've said before, I love white spaces. So that is what I did with this one! As I would love to fill it up with some great tangles, I wanted to leave a little empty space in there.
I liked this without color, but for some reason, I felt like I needed to color it!

Not sure I like it much, but it was fun to color. I used my Prismacolor pencils.
Feel free to click on images to enlarge.

While I was working on my Zendala, my 5 year old saw the other printed templates that I had downloaded, and asked if she could fill it up with tangles. So here you have it!
I thought she did a pretty awesome job.

It's so cute how my three lil' kids get so excited about my Zentangle journey!
Please go to The Bright Owl and download your own template to tangle! And if you love Zentangle, go to the Diva's Weekly Challenge, for more fun and excitement.

ZENDALA DARE #109

Zendala Dare #109
with Erin

Erin, thank you so much for this fantastic template! As soon as I saw it I got pretty excited, because it looks like it is in motion. Which screams to me for more organic tangles. I don't know how you create these templates. I know you said this one was a stinker, but I really enjoyed it! Thank you for you talents and time! :0)
Tangles used: 'Amazen', 'Angel Fish', and 'Rosewood'
If you're a regular tangler and do the "Diva's Weekly Challenge", then join in on the fun for Erin's Weekly Zendala Dare at the Bright Owl (or visa versa). Please keep Erin and all people that live up in northern CA in prayers. The fires have been destructive up there.

Many thanks for all the friendliness on my blog! Your words are greatly appreciated! (((hugs)))
Please check out my new addition to my blog! "Dans Friday" is a new page, where I will be sharing a monthly coloring page with my readers. Enjoy!!

ZENDALA DARE #108

Zendala Dare # 108
with Erin

Ok, so if you saw and read my last post,..............laundry is NOT done, but I just had to plaaaaay!!!!! :0) My Micron and Erin's Zendala Dare were calling to me from afar,.......so,....... I just had to answer!!
I had fun with this one, even though I'm not a big, super fan of the star shape, it was enjoyable.
Oh, and no I did not make a mistake in the center, :0) I just love the look of the tangle, 'BronxCheer'
The tangles I used were, 'BronxCheer', 'Phicops', 'Verdigough' and 'Watusee' (a new favorite)
Join in on the fun and go to The Bright Owl, and download her Zendala template. These Zendalas are really becoming addicting!!!!
Now, back to laundry!!! :0(   You know how sometimes a sock will get eaten up by the dryer,...? Well, why can't ALL of the laundry get eaten up by the dryer,.....than I'd have a great excuse not to do it!!!!! Anyway,........

ZENDIVADALA

Weekly Challenge #230

Erin, is the Diva's guest blogger for this week. Erin has a weekly challenge of her own on her blog The Bright Owl. She challenges us to create Zendalas. Go to her blog and join in on the fun!

The tangles I used were, 'Mooka', 'Narwal', 'Paradox' and 'Murmylies'. I am going to try and do Erin's Zendala Dare challenge weekly, hope to see you there!

Last week I did do the Diva's weekly challenge with guest blogger, Sandy Hunter at Tanglebucket blog. She challenged us to focus on negative space. I actually like to have open space on my tiles, so this was fun and enjoyable for me. You gotta love that open space!!! Anyway, I had so much fun, that I did two entries.
My computer was down last week so that is the reason of delay. I do have Instagram,  (@theartzenter) where I can easily and quickly post photos. So I did have it posted on there on time. Anyway, here are my open space tiles.

Did this one pretty quick for a friend.
I'm hoping that all of my computer problems will be done. This post was quite a challenge to finish. (I just wish I could get better at all of this tech stuff.)
I hope to see you all next week. Have an awesome one!! And thank you to all who make me smile with your comments. I try to respond on your blog rather than on mine, that way you don't have to revisit mine, and I get to see your beautiful work!  (((hugs))) to all!!!

ZENDALA DARE

Zendala Dare
#104

I think this is my first time entering the Zendala Dare challenge. I may have once, but it's my first time as The Art Zenter. I'm still getting used to how a Zendala works. They're fun, it just getting used to working in a circle and keeping things symmetrical.
I'm hoping to be a part of this challenge weekly, hoping!!!
