HALLOWEEN IS COMING-------YEEEEKS!

Zendala Dare #111
with Erin

Thank you Erin for such a fun challenge! I loved the template you gave us for this week! I may have to do another one with it! Halloween is always fun and I enjoy the crazy creatures that go along with it.
I just had to go with 'The Count' with this zendala.
In progression

True black n white and shades of gray!

Now that I know how to scan, this is a scanned pic and I added color!
Why don't you download Erin's template for Zendala Dare #111,
and join in on the fun!
If you are a weekly participant for this challenge, you might want to try out The Diva's, weekly challenge too.
   Hope to see you there!
I can't believe that Halloween is just around the corner. I need to ask a favor from ya' all! There are five people in my family, and I like to pick a theme for us to dress up as for Halloween. Any suggestions? I am totally stumped this year!
Welp, have a great weekend, and we'll see you around, next week!

GHOULISH TRI-BEE

Weekly Challenge #238
UMT (Use My Tangle): Tri-Bee
by

Before I get straight to the challenge, I just wanted to show you a little bit of 'life as I know it', here at Casa deCarlo's. Back in April we bought chickies for the kids, (I mean the Easter Bunny brought chickies for the kids). So now that we're in September, we can definitely see which 'one' turned out to be rooster. (Thank goodness, it was only one!)  So we have 5 hens and one rooster. And as of this week, we are now benefiting from these little ladies. We are getting eggs! (I guess I should say, one of them is laying. One egg a day!) Beautiful brown eggs!!!!
The white ones are from the store. (I just added them in the photo shoot.)

Anybody want a rooster? We need to get rid of him now that there are eggs coming!  This is our mobile chicken coupe.
And then we had a glorious rain!!! Oh, how I wish we would get a true 'Fall' like so many other states!

This is my view when I'm washing dishes! Oh how I would love to Tangle that wall!!!!  As soon as I find out that our house is in escrow and they will be tearing it down,......I'm gonna be tangling this whole house:0)
So there is a bit of 'life as I know it'! Now on with the fun!!
Oh, how I love this new tangle by Beate Winkle, CZT. Thank you Beate for sharing it with us, and thank you Laura for choosing it for UMT! It's always exciting to see new tangles that everyone has created.
Ok, I wish I had taken a picture of the true shapes of Tri-bee, before I started turning them into Narwal.  But for step outs for Narwal, the pencil shape used, can be like that of what is used in Tri-bee. That is what inspired me to use Narwal. Turned this way, it looks a little like a wonky elephant.

I know,....... a little crazy and wild!!!!! But I tell you what, when I got started I just couldn't stop! I got so into my zen that I completely got lost!!

As I had finished the original, I kept thinking what would it look like if I colored it?  So my good friend Jean Chaney, gave me the perfect solution,.........Scan it and then print it and color the print! (now why didn't I think of that?) Thanks again, Jean :0)
I also figured that since it is October and close to Halloween, I might as well spook it up even more.
Please remember to go to the Diva's website and check out how everyone else has used Tri-Bee. Also, if you like to tangle, why not give the Zendala Dare at The Bright Owl, a try. It's lots of fun, and this weeks' challenge is getting us ready for Halloween too!
A big THANKS to all of you who visit and leave a message! Your words are always appreciated!
Ps, Please go to my page Dans Friday, for a free download coloring page. I add a new one every second Friday of every month. Download it and share it with others!!! <3
Have an awesome rest of the week!!

'L ZEN 7's'

' L zen 7's '

The story of this new tangle is pretty exciting to me! My 5 year old daughter was tangling on my downloaded template from The Bright Owl, Zendala Dare #110. As I was watching her do her deliberate little strokes and filling in the different areas, I had to stop her and ask her to repeat what she had just done. She was simply making a capital 'L' and then adding a '7' or backwards or upside down 7. Anyway, I said, "oh my, I think you might have created a new tangle!" So I played with it a while and I think I have come up with a way to make it a very versatile and fun lil' tangle. All because of my 5 year old's inspiration!
It seemed like such a simple tangle, that I thought it probably has been discovered and step outs made for it already. So I checked the famous Dictionary of Tangles, TanglePatterns, with Linda Farmer, and could not see anything like it. Then I Googled, tangle L7, and found that there is a quilting pattern already named L7.  "Bummer!" So,.... I sat and made my step outs and was visiting with my 8 year old and telling him my frustration, and 'HE', then gave me inspiration. He said, "Mom, why don't you call it 'L zen 7's'?" So there you have it! This turned out to be a family project!!! Yay,.... I just love when a plan comes together, especially when it's inspired by, love of family!!!
I think it will make a great filler for background or just filling in space from a string.

Do you see how she was drawing these lines?  What's great about this tangle is, that it is one of those that if you rotate your tile at a 180, you can still draw an L and a 7 and it works. So, crazy, fun!!!!

I'd like to hear what you think of 'L zen 7's'. I hope you like it and find it to be one of your 'go to' tangles! Enjoy your day!
